The servers for this game have  sadly closed down as of July 3rd, 2020. But all stories have been comfortably archived within the latest version — to be discovered and kept safe for time immemorial. Thank you so kindly much again for participating in this small endeavour ♡

Wander through a gentle garden of words, discover the murmurations of other storytellers — and in time be inspired to leave your own.

Best encountered over a warm mug of coffee and snuggled up on a cold winters morning, the Library Of Babble is an microcosmic social network designed around small acts of storytelling and connection, and the wish for more intimate spaces of shared  belonging. †

† In many ways, this game is a small recollection of my earliest internet moments. Of snuggling away to discover the sometimes strange and surreal communities that grew there, and how distant yet intimate it all still felt. 

So thank you kindly so much for taking the time to consider this game — and here's simply wishing you all the warmest on your journey ♡

ABOUT

Designed by Demi Schänzel (@idlemurmurs) and released on August 2019, the Library Of Babble remains a microcosmic social network brimming with small kindred stories. This version was specifically re-released for the Freeplay Independent Games Festival — and will be made available for the full duration of June, before the servers close and an offline version containing all your collective stories will be released. 

It's hoped this library may grow to become a space of grounding comfort, and someplace to warmly reside in over the course of these following few weeks ♡

CONTROLS

• Navigate through the library using WASD or the ARROW KEYS, or by holding down the LEFT MOUSE-BUTTON and DRAGGING. 
• Stories may placed by tapping ENTER when the quill fills up, written with a standard keyboard.
• Allow the compass to guide you toward undiscovered stories.

REMINDERS

• This game requires an internet connection to play.
• This is first and foremost a space to explore gentle acts of storytelling and prose. Write with kindness and love, as instances of abusive or otherwise cruel language (misogynistic, racist, homophobic or otherwise) won't be tolerated and offenders may get permanently banned from publishing further content.
